Wednesday, 28th July 2010 (866 views) Several gold items are among the objects expected to fetch high prices at an upcoming auction of Elvis Presley's belongings.Heritage Auction Galleries will hold its Signature Elvis Memorabilia Auction on August 14th in Memphis, Tennessee. Among the star lots is a pair of gold-framed sunglasses made by Neostyle in West Germany. They were customised for the singer by his personal optician in the 1970s and could fetch $20,000 (£12,813). Meanwhile, a gold and opal Lowell Hays ring said to be one of Presley's favourites is expected to sell for more than $50,000. However, the top lot of the auction looks set to be Presley's white Knabe grand piano with gold trim, which was kept in his music room at Graceland and could fetch over $1 million. Presley specifically asked for the gold trim to be added when he ordered the piano in 1957. "This elegant musical instrument, so well-loved and played by Elvis, is presented with wonderful provenance back to the 1930s, not to mention that it was an emotionally-charged prized possession of the King himself," commented Doug Norwine, director of music and entertainment auctions at Heritage.
