Scottish gold jewellery 'could see boom'The news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 27th July 2010 (596 views) The market for Scottish gold jewellery could boom as a result of plans to mine gold at a reopened mine in Perthshire, it has been suggested.According to the Scottish Daily Record, high-quality Scottish gold is extremely rare and commands a premium as a result. However, if the reopening of the mine near Tyndrum goes ahead, more of this type of jewellery could be manufactured as demand increases. "We think Scottish gold could be a marketer's dream," explained Chris Sangster, chief executive of mine owner Scotgold Resources. He added: "With all its romantic connotations, coming from a romantic country like Scotland, [Scottish gold] could be very successful." Welsh gold is also particularly rare and is currently being used in jewellery made by Clogau Gold. However, the mine from which this gold comes is only expected to yield the precious metal until 2016. It is the same mine that has supplied the gold for royal wedding rings since 1923.
