Wednesday, 4th November 2009 (842 views) A recent auction of rare jewellery, coins and other items saw gold lots perform particularly well in terms of price.The Jewels and Watches sale run by Christie's in Amsterdam yesterday (November 3rd) featured a number of gold objects that beat the auction house's estimates. A rare limited edition 18-c gold oversized watch by International Watch Co sold for 21,250 (£18,977) after Christie's predicted that the highest bid would fall between 8,000 and 12,000. Meanwhile, a collection of fine gold Krugerrand and Maple Leaf coins went for 15,000, surpassing its estimate of between 8,500 and 10,500. Other notable gold items sold at the auction included a crocodile bangle by Barry Kieselstein-Cord, a Bulgari ruby and diamond necklace and other jewellery made by Cartier, Tiffany & Co and other luxury brands. Christie's will hold its annual autumn sale of magnificent jewels at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre on December 1st.
