Tuesday, 21st July 2009 (1286 views) The second Kerala Jewelry Trade Show is to take place later this year, displaying a wealth of gold jewellery to visitors in the process, it has been announced.KGJS-2009 will run from November 21st to 23rd at the Le Meridian hotel in Cochin. T Balakrishnan, principal secretary of industries and commerce for Kerala, told Rapaport that the show was particularly important for the state due to its high-quality gold. TO Sooraj, director of industries and commerce for Kerala, added: "Keralites [have] a special connection with jewellery. There is a cultural affinity towards gold and it has always been looked [at] as an investment." More than 200 exhibitor stalls will be set up at the show, with some of the planned events to include educational seminars, an awards ceremony and a jewellery design contest. Last year's show helped to drive a 35 per cent increase in jewellery sales in Kerala, KGJS-2009 convenor PV Jose said.
