Thursday, 16th July 2009 (1216 views) International jewellery designers have gathered in central Iran for the third annual International Exhibition of Jewelry, Precious Stones and Metals and Related Equipments.The event, which is being held in Isfahan, is showcasing 74 domestic jewellery and security companies, with firms representing provinces including Isfahan, Tehran, East and West Azerbaijan, Yazd, Fars and Khorasan Razavi, the Cultural Heritage News Agency reports. In addition, there are overseas jewellers from China, Italy, Belgium, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Japan and Lebanon taking part in the five-day exhibition. As well as displaying the latest techniques and technology in the production of gold jewellery, the show also acts as a platform for security controls such as cameras and fireproof safes. The exhibition opened on July 13th and will run until July 17th. According to Professor Kim Sexton of the University of Arkansas, Isfahan served as the capital city of the Seljuq and Safavid dynasties that shaped what would eventually become Iran.
