A solid gold ornament buried on the Isle of Man as part of an annual festival has been found by a local woman.

Sarah Brown of Edremony, Port Erin, discovered the Golden Queenie at a small cove next to the main Port Erin shore.

Donated by Celtic Gold of Peel, the Golden Queenie is a solid gold shell thought to be worth £4,000 that is buried every year as part of the Isle of Man Queenie Festival, which celebrates all things related to the sea around the island.

Participants in the treasure hunt were given clues throughout the festival to help them pinpoint the prize's location.

"I realised weeks ago where it was and I'd been digging, trying to find the exact spot, ever since. Everything fitted; all the clues linked up in my mind," Ms Brown remarked.

The Isle of Man Queenie Festival ran from June 29th to July 5th.
