Gold jewellery 'remains bridal favourite'The news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 14th July 2009 (1391 views) With "wedding season" arriving in Dubai, many brides-to-be are picking jewellery for the big day from retailers in the City of Gold, with gold rings and necklaces taking centre stage this year, according to reports.News service Al Bawba said that while gold wedding rings remain almost universally popular, the latest trends on the runways point to a greater emphasis on accessories to augment and compliment a bridal outfit. Gold chokers have been a must-have so far this year, along with ornate, multi-layered necklaces, which are particularly popular with Indian brides, the site noted. Chandelier-style gold earrings are also en vogue, with many opting for designs that drop "almost to shoulder-length". This season has also seen a shift towards "bold bangles and cuff bracelets in dramatic styles", with vintage creations inspired by nature among the top picks. Al Bawba said many brides who cannot find that perfect piece are choosing to have their wedding jewellery custom-made. According to the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, the emirate is now the world's fastest-growing centre for trading gold, importing around 300 tonnes of the precious metal annually.
