A touring exhibition displaying some of Tutankhamen's gold treasures has attracted a "mob" of visitors at the de Young museum in San Francisco, California.

According to Richard Bammer of the Reporter, those considering taking in the Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of the Pharaoh exhibition should prepare themselves "for a crush of fellow Tut fans" of all ages.

The exhibition displays more than 130 artefacts, including a gold coffinette inlaid with precious stones that contained the ancient Egyptian king's mummified internal organs and a gold crown decorated with serpents.

Visitors to the de Young can see the exhibition until March 2010. This year's opening represents the first time Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of the Pharaoh has featured at the museum in three decades.

The display includes a number of artefacts that are new to the travelling exhibition, including a pectoral necklace with a yellow-green carved stone that is believed to be millions of years old.
