Tuesday, 7th July 2009 (3055 views) A new range of high-end handbags featuring gold detailing has been shown off by Stephane Rolland at Paris Couture Week for the 2009-10 winter season. The designer's latest collection of custom handbags comes with 22-c gold metalwork and closures encrusted with precious stones, the Associated Press reports. Rolland's newest designs include a day purse and a clutch for use on evening occasions, and begin at 10,000 (£8,642), depending on what each client asks for. According to the Associated Press, Rolland merely raised his eyebrows "enigmatically" when asked how much one of his most expensive-looking designs would cost. The designer was born in the south of France and lived in Argentina and the West Indies before studying fashion in Paris and going on to work for Balenciaga on the design house's menswear ranges. He launched his own couture house in July 2007 and has previously been nominated for costume design accolades at the Moliere awards, which celebrate the best of France's national theatre scene.
