Those looking for a gift for Father's Day have been advised to consider gold cufflinks.

HeraldNet noted that this type of jewellery is in style and that a range of options are available to suit various budgets.

The news source, which is based in the US state of Washington, explained that pieces by one self-taught jeweller in particular have proven to be popular.

It stated that a pair of gold cufflinks and a tie bar by Ed Wiener, who died in 1991, sold for $1,715 (£1,052) at auction last year.

And those who wish to seek out other objects created by the designer - which date back as far as the late-1950s - were advised to look for his name, as he marked each of his pieces with it.

Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Times recommended wearing gold jewellery to job interviews, as it can add "refined sparkle" to an outfit.
