Thursday, 11th June 2009 (1383 views) A growing interest in Indian culture and traditions is contributing to a rise in sales of gold jewellery from the country, it has been suggested.According to National Jeweler, traditional Indian pieces feature 22-c or 24-c gold and a growing number of people are choosing to invest in them due to the recession. But Ellen Sideri, founder and chief executive of trend forecasting company ESP Trendlab, explained that investment is not the only motivation for consumers choosing Indian designs. "There are many reasons, not the least among them is the fact that India is an emerging nation with a growing middle class and a rich and colourful culture," she was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, designer Pratima Sethi suggested that it is 18-c pieces that are most appealing to American consumers, due to its softer hue. Jetha Bhai Zaveri recently introduced a new collection of gold jewellery that was inspired by Indian tribal culture.
