The man who found a gold engagement ring through a treasure hunt in New Zealand has revealed that he does not have a girlfriend to give it to.

Ryan Roselli, a 21-year-old student living in Wellington, was the successful hunter in a challenge organised on June 6th.

Anthony Gardiner revealed that he had bought the NZ$5,000 (£1,930) gold ring in Hong Kong, but was turned down when he proposed to his partner.

Rather than sell the item, he decided to stage a treasure hunt in Wellington by posting clues on his Twitter account.

But Mr Roselli, who found the ring after seven hours of searching, explained that he will not be proposing because he is single.

After considering selling it or giving it to his mother, the Marlborough Express reports that he has now opted to keep it.

Bob Mack of Rochester, Minnesota, recently discovered that his missing gold wedding ring had been found in Guinea, having slipped off his finger while he was packing a box of supplies for a hospital there.
