Stars from the worlds of film and music were sporting gold jewellery at an awards ceremony in the UK this week.

According to OK! magazine, the precious metal was chosen by a number of those attending the Glamour Woman of the Year event.

Singer Kylie Minogue, who scooped the top prize of the evening by being named woman of the year, donned a gold bangle as well as a gold egg-shaped necklace.

Actress Amanda Seyfried - star of Mamma Mia! - chose a thick gold bangle and was named film actress of the year.

The precious metal is set to feature prominently in the sporting world over the next two years, as tennis player Maria Sharapova has agreed a deal with Tiffany & Co.

A former world number one, she is wearing pieces of gold jewellery at eight Grand Slam events and said she is "thrilled" by the partnership.
