Thursday, 4th June 2009 (1363 views) A new range of gold jewellery has been inspired by Indian tribal culture.Jewellery store Jetha Bhai Zaveri is launching the collection, which has been dubbed Adi-Kriti. Asian News International noted that a necklace in the shape of a bison's head is among the pieces, while others feature dragons, peacock feathers and flowers. They have been created to reflect the essence of the eight north-eastern states' "age-old" tribal foundations and designer Vimal Bhai explained that inspiration was taken while studying the culture. "We found that the jewellery, the ornament they wear, has a story behind it. We found it very interesting, so we decided to present this story in gold," he was quoted as saying. Recent figures from the South Africa Gold Coin Exchange indicated that demand for the precious metal continues to remain high in India. Chairman Alan Demby explained that there had been an 84 per cent increase there in 2008.
