Wednesday, 3rd June 2009 (1096 views) A former high school cross country coach in the US has had a gold ring returned to him after it was missing for six years.Brent Haley, who worked at Largo High in Florida, received the ring after being named national coach of the year, the St Petersburg Times reports. However, just weeks before retiring he lost it, having removed the ring to play tennis. A metal detector was used in an attempt to retrieve it and a reward was offered, but the search proved futile. That is until last month, when Largo High student Kristi Sofroni came across it while playing on the same courts. It was passed on to a member of staff, who remarked: "The older teachers that had been here a long time went crazy. We know how much it meant to him. Some of them were almost brought to tears." Joyce Tindall of Chickamauga recently saw her gold high school class ring returned after it had been lost for 50 years.
