A new range of gold jewellery pieces has been created by Italian company Calgaro.

According to fibre2fashion, the Soleil collection is intended to pay tribute to the sun, recalling the reverence that ancient civilisations had for it.

Giuseppe Calgaro, chief executive of the firm, noted that the items can be worn "effortlessly with a variety of outfits".

The Soleil collection "is designed to recall the mystery and wonder of nature", he said, adding that today's busy lifestyles mean people are no longer "enraptured" by the elements.

Included in the range is a necklace handmade using 18-c gold and the news source noted that it features a "lavish design of hypnotic solar rings".

Earlier this week, Danish company Pandora revealed that a range of 18-c gold items had been introduced to the US, having debuted in Europe last year.

Known as LovePods, the collection includes gold rings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets.
