A jewellery store in Ranchi, India is selling a range of six pendants each inscribed with the Bhagavad Gita.

Made from 24-c gold, nanotechnology has been used to etch the 18 chapters of the sacred scripture on to a small gold tablet to create the jewellery item, the Calcutta Telegraph reports.

Gurwinder Singh, a manager at the Ranchi showroom, told the news source that the pendants were the "world's smallest Bhagvad Gita inscribed in pure gold", adding that he had already sold half a dozen in the few days since they arrived at the shop.

Customer Priya Jaiswal stated that the appeal of the Bhagavad Gita pendants is that they are "very stylish".

Created by Indian jewellery company Tanishq to mark the Hindu festival of Akshaya Tritiya, the Bhagavad Gita gold pendant can be read under a microscope.

Sandeep Kulhani, the firm's vice-president, said that he hoped that the "auspicious piece of jewellery" would become a "prized possession" for customers.
