Tuesday, 14th April 2009 (2301 views) Indian auctioneer Saffronart has announced plans to hold a sale of fine jewellery, including a number of gold items.The company held its first fine jewellery auction last year and is hoping to repeat the success of its first sale in October, the Economic Times reports. Highlights of the auction include traditional Indian gold pieces, ladies watches and items from international jewellery houses such as Tiffany & Co, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. Minal Vazirani, president and co-founder of Saffronart, told the news source: "Through the sale, Saffronart aims at raising awareness about India's legacy and contributions to jewellery design and production in the global market." A total of 180 lots will be sold later this month and a vintage ladies gold bracelet wrist watch is expected to reach a high price. Meanwhile, a gold Patek Philippe watch sold at auction in Hong Kong earlier this month for HKD2.8 million (£245,000).
