A US jeweller has created a gold ring that looks like a 1981 Atari microchip for computer fans.

The 18-c ring was handcrafted by Sakurako Shimizu in Brooklyn, New York and features a precise cast of the original Atari chip.

Other creations by the Japanese artist, curator and conceptual jewellery designer include an 18-c gold wedding band that is based upon a recording of a person saying "I do".

Rings can be custom produced for couples based on a recording of their own voice, with the waveform of the sound laser-cut into the jewellery.

Meanwhile, Selfridges in London is selling a £1,000 handcrafted Easter egg by Melt's head chocolatier Chika Watanabe, which features a gold coin embedded in the shell.

The rare gold bullion Britannia coin weighs one troy ounce and is worth an estimated £900, with the store promoting the Easter egg as an investment purchase for chocolate lovers.
