Monday, 23rd March 2009 (1568 views) A jewellery designer who uses 24-c gold to create his pieces is exhibiting in Vail, Colorado during March.Gurhan Orhan will be showing his handmade jewellery designs throughout the month, with his new 2009 collections among the items on show, Vail Daily reports. Gurhan - who works exclusively with 24-c gold - explained the difficulties working with the purest form of the precious metal can bring. "Sometimes design ideas that might be aesthetically wonderful are a challenge with 24-c gold. So I must think technically," he told the paper. He added that the parameters of his jewellery designs are often dictated by the technical aspect of working with pure gold. Meanwhile, a recent study by research firm GFMS has revealed that Turkey is now a major exporter of gold due to the global economic downturn. In the first two months of 2009 the country has exported more gold than it imported during the first six months of 2008, the figures showed.
