A businesswoman from Malaysia has been reunited with her gold wedding ring after she lost it in flash floods 20 years ago.

K Shanbagavalli was parted from the ring after floods hit her shop in Klang on September 9th 2009, but it has now been recovered after a plumber discovered the six-gram gold ring while working in the washroom at the back of the store, Asia One News reported.

It was caught in a corroded pipe and the shopkeeper, now 59, identified it by the inscription, which is the initials of her husband NP Raman, 63.

"I thanked Ah Tee for bringing it to me, as it is a band of love I treasure," Ms Shanbagavalli, owner of Tangaram Jewellers, stated.

Commenting on the find, Mr Raman said that it was not the money spent on the ring that counted but the fact that it denoted the couple's love for one another.

The jewellers are now planning to craft similar inscribed gold rings for young couples as love tokens.

Meanwhile, in Oxfordshire, a 400-year-old gold ring has been listed as part of a collection of artifacts owned by the county that celebrate love.
