Thursday, 5th February 2009 (1784 views) An Indian temple plans to sell gold ornaments donated by devotees at auction in order to pay for a medical centre. The proceeds of the auction by the Siddhivinayak Temple will be spent on a diagnostic centre, after plans for the project were approved by the state government, according to the Times of India. Located near the temple at Prabhadevi, the centre is expected to hire a large hall to put on the auction and display the gold offerings ahead of the sale. Subhash Mayekar, chairperson of the temple's trust, stated: "Selling the jewellery will get us more money than the gold as people pay a good price for ornaments donated to God."
