Wednesday, 4th February 2009 (2350 views) Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have visited a gold jewellery workshop as part of a one-day visit to Northern Ireland.The royal couple stopped at a local jewellery workshop in Glenarm, County Antrim where they were shown a range of gold handcrafted pieces, the BBC reported. Owned by Bill and Christina Steenson, who also have a designer jewellery gallery in Belfast, the workshop is located in an old bank premises in the centre of the village. The couple established their own business in 1976 in historic 12th century Glendarm, evolving a unique style of design that has changed with the decades to reflect a "softer organic feel" for the new millennium. Using specialised techniques and the properties of gold to craft their jewellery, the Steensons employ a skilled team of craftspeople in Glenarm and offer customers a commission service for made-to-order pieces.
