Tuesday, 3rd February 2009 (1566 views) One fan of the Southern Steel netball team in New Zealand will receive an 18-c gold ring as a prize this season.Created by jeweller Russell Coats of Coats and Schuck in Windsor, the competition for the ring is open to all Southern Steel netball fans purchasing a platinum pass for this year's trans-Tasman championships, the Southland Times reported. The winner of the three-stone gold, sapphire and diamond ring will be announced in April and Mr Coats is also designing a unique piece of jewellery for the Steel players and management. He plans to display the ring at his store until it is presented to the winning fan. "The inspiration to do it comes from the great pride I have in being a Southlander and in Southland doing so well in netball," the jeweller stated. Meanwhile, Michael Binger, a member of the UltimateBet Star Players Team, took first place in Event 12 at the 2009 Aussie Millions Omaha poker tournament in January, winning a gold ring and $123,840 (£86,920).
