Hollywood stars attending the annual Screen Actors Guild (Sag) awards opted for dramatic gold jewellery, it has been reported.

The 2009 ceremony witnessed a series of one-shoulder gowns following a trend started by first lady Michelle Obama at her husband's inauguration, according to the National Jeweller Network.

Jane Krakowski, from 30 Rock and Ally McBeal, opted for 22-c yellow gold drop-hoop earrings from Bochic for the glittering awards with a matching bracelet.

Film actress Evan Rachel Wood chose a substantial lapis and gold bracelet for the event and a host of other stars chose gold statement jewellery for the glittering affair.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles-based jewellery Loree Rodkin has witnessed a surge in popularity as a result the increased profile she received when Michelle Obama chose to wear gold jewellery designed by her.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Mickey Rourke, who was nominated for a best actor award for his role in The Wrestler, attended the event in a white gold pair of sunglasses from Loree Rodkin.
