Men should exercise restraint when shopping for gold jewellery and should wear it in a way that reflects their personality, a report has claimed.

According to Commodity Online, taking care when choosing jewellery and selecting items that suit their "taste, character and personality" is important if men are to avoid looking over-accessorised.

"Even though women rush to buy gold jewellery as much as they can, men should be very selective in buying their gold accessories," the article stated.

The website added that a watch is a classic piece of jewellery for men, while gold rings are also 'safe' and necklaces or pendants are fashionable items that can be worn.

Other options for male shoppers include chained or solid bracelets and hoops or stud earrings, with different items suitable for different outfits and occasions.

Online men's accessories store Herbert Jones announced recently that it is now offering a range of gold cufflinks for men from fine jewellery and accessories brand Tateossian.
