Gold bugs and insects are a key part of this season's jewellery trends, according to a report.

An article on Softpedia.com notes that bugs "represent a key element" in designs at the moment, with all kinds of insects depicted on gold rings, earrings, brooches and necklaces for women.

"We have started to notice more and more butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, and even regular flies and spiders on women's rings, in their ears, on their necks or chests," the article states.

The report predicts that the insect trend will be reflected in jewellery, accessories and clothing, with women wearing rather than being afraid of creepy crawlies.

According to an article on thebeautybiz.com, gold remains popular with jewellery lovers for 2009, including more unusual shades such as rose and chocolate gold.

The website forecasts that geometric designs and patterns will prove popular next year and longer lengths that can be looped or wrapped around the neck will become more common.
