Thursday, 11th December 2008 (1759 views) The world's oldest jeweller Garrard has appointed London-based designer Stephen Webster as its new creative director.Mr Webster's first projects will be new women's and men's ranges and the launch of the Georgina Chapman for Garrard collection in autumn 2009. Winner of an array of top jeweller awards, he began his career at 16 at Medway College of Design, has trained under Tony Sheperd and worked for a range of leading jewellery brands before establishing his own jewellery manufacturing and design studio in London. In September this year Garrard sponsored the Fashion for Relief event to benefit the White Ribbon Alliance, which was hosted by Naomi Campbell in London and showcased the company's gold jewellery. Established in London in 1735, Crown jeweller Garrard was founded by George Wickes who was appointed as goldsmith to the Prince of Wales and was taken over in 1802 by Robert Garrard senior who gave it its name.
