Wednesday, 10th December 2008 (1751 views) A collection of ceremonial dress of Russia's tsars, including pieces adorned with gold and jewellery, is going on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London this week.The show marks the first time that many of the costumes from Imperial Russia have been seen by the public. Entitled the Magnificence of the Tsars, the exhibition features over 40 uniforms lent to the London-based gallery by the Moscow Kremlin Museums. Highlights of the collection are coronation uniforms of eight emperors, including the last tsar of Russia, Nicholas II. The exhibition closes on March 29th and spans more than two centuries in the life of the Russian court, from the 1720s. Visitors have been attending an exhibition in New Delhi of Russian items including gold jewellery and Faberge eggs belonging to the tsars of Russia.
