A collection of elaborate gold jewellery inspired by architecture has been placed on display at Gerald Peters Gold Mine in New Springville, New York.

The store in the Staten Island Mall is celebrating art, architecture and jewellery with the new Architectural Collection from Hearts of Fire, which features a hand-wrapped gold wire bangle inspired by the Beijing Olympic Stadium in China, known as the Bird's Nest.

Highlights of the collection include a pair of 18-c white gold earrings that reflect the iconic design of Manhattan's Chrysler Building and a necklace inspired by Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Gerald Amerosi, owner of Gerald Peters Gold Mine, has described the collection as "magnificent" and is taking orders for pieces created by Katherine Rosenberg-Pineau, Hearts On Fire head designer, the Staten Island Advance reports.

An homage to famous buildings around the world, the 17-piece Hearts On Fire collection has been featured in magazine Architectural Digest and will be displayed in a dozen stores across the US as part of a tour.
