Thursday, 4th December 2008 (1842 views) Prestigious auction house Sotheby's has announced that it is holding an auction on behalf of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), with a number of gold jewellery items for sale.The auction in London on December 17th features a number of one-off pieces and exceptional jewellery designed and donated by leading contemporary artists and jewellers. A highlight of the sale is a 22-c gold and enamel ring, entitled Water Ring 1, designed by Anish Kapoor and donated by the artist in conjunction with Louisa Guinness, with an estimated price of £15,000-£20,000. "Artists love another medium to be creative in and wearable art is the new jewellery," Ms Guinness said. Other sale items include a pair of white gold earrings designed and crafted by David Morris and estimated at £8,000-£12,000 The ten works being sold at auction are expected to raise more than £100,000 and buyers will also receive a champagne lunch hosted by the jeweller or a personal tour of the artist's studio in addition to a unique piece of jewellery. A rose gold engagement ring that belonged to Hollywood actress Deborah Kerr is being sold by auctioneer Bonhams in London and is expected to fetch up to £25,000.
