Friday, 7th November 2008 (1830 views) An exhibition of ancient Roman gold artefacts is credited by a Norfolk museum for pushing up its visitor numbers by 44 per cent.On loan to the Ancient House in Thetford from the British Museum, the collection includes Roman gold jewellery such as necklaces, rings, bracelets and pendants dating back to 380-390AD and discovered in the town three decades ago. The Thetford and Brandon Times reports that the Tudor town house has seen an additional 1,400 people come through its doors since the jewellery went on display compared with the five months from May 2007. According to the newspaper, curator Oliver Bone said that the response to the Thetford Treasure had been "very good". Managed by the Norfolk Museums & Archaeology Service, Thetford's Ancient House in White Hart Street is a Grade I listed Tudor merchant's home and has recently undergone a £1.6 million renovation.
