Monday, 3rd November 2008 (1906 views) An array of gold jewellery went on display at this year's Singapore JewelFest (SJF) in the Jewel Pavilion at the Civic Plaza in Ngee Ann City, with crowds flocking to the event.The sixth annual showcase for luxury jewellery was attended by some of the biggest jewellers in the world and the theme of the 2008 event was Nature of Beauty. Organisers of the event predicted that this year's ten-day festival, ending on November 2nd, would record ten per cent higher sales than the $12 million (£7.4 million) recorded last year. One of the most spectacular items on show was the limited edition 18-c gold Faberge World Wide Fund For Nature Egg, which opens to reveal a gold orangutan and is worth an estimated $50,000. Singapore-based Joon exhibited its 18-c white gold necklace Starry Night, which features over 2,300 diamonds and blue sapphires. Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, SJF 2008 attracted a total of 32 brands, up from 22 in 2007.
