Damas has presented its first 24-karat gold collection which has been named Aura.

The jewellery range will include bracelets, necklaces and earrings using the fine gold which - according to Damas - was reserved only for royal use for many years.

Each piece will combine contemporary and traditional designs and have been created by hand by "master craftsmen".

Tawhid Abdullah, managing director of Damas, said: "Apart from being personal adornments, Aura jewels are excellent investment pieces that only increase in value over time."

Due to this, he added, the pieces from Aura gold collection are ideal to be given as presents to hand down through the generations.

Along with jewellery, Damas is also a watch retailer.

The company has 450 stores in 18 countries, making it the biggest jewellery and watch retailer in the Middle East.

In 1959 the first Damas store was opened in Dubai by Mohammed Taher Abdullah.
