Chocolatier dreams of goldThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 12th August 2008 (2240 views) A chocolate-loving couple from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania have turned their dreams into a reality by setting up their own chocolate company.Owner and Akron chocolatier Donna Smith told LancasterOnline.com she got the idea for the organic chocolate business when she received some junk mail in the post which included a chocolate mould. Mrs Smith said: "As soon as I saw it, I was in love." Inspiration for her organic chocolates does not just come from the letter box, she said. "I literally dreamed up the recipe for our oval-shaped strawberry-banana signature milk-chocolate truffles, complete with their own decoration of ... an edible gold transfer sheet," she said. Mrs Smith said she prefers to use locally sourced, organic chocolate in her creations, saying some mass-produced products can end up tasting of synthetics. Meanwhile, online retailer Firebox has sold out of its own Gold Chocolate - a 73 per cent cocoa chocolate bar coated in a layer of edible 22-carat gold leaf.
