Thursday, 17th July 2008 (2200 views) Gold equestrian jewellery has been stolen from the Great Yorkshire Show this week, according to Horse and Hound. The jewellery was estimated to be worth over £100,000. Designer and jeweller Rosemary Hetherington lost her entire stock when a suitcase was taken from a marquee during the equestrian event. In the suitcase was 2,140 individual pieces of jewellery including many made from gold and white gold. "We were loading the van and someone broke into the back of the marquee and stole the case," said Ms Hetherington who specialises in creating pieces of jewellery with a horse theme, including saddle brooches and horseshoe necklaces. "All the entrances were blocked, as three of us were loading the van." The thieves apparently cut through the ropes of the marquee to get at the suitcase. It will be difficult for the assailants to sell the pieces on they are quite distinctive and are hallmarked RH, added Ms Hetherington. She has run the equestrian jewellery business since 1990.
