A pair of 18 to 22-carat gold earrings is to be auctioned in North Carolina this month.

The earrings, which feature sapphire and tourmaline, were designed by Mia Katrin for Jewel Couture. They are valued at $900 (£450), with proceeds going to the Avery Council for the Arts.

Linville Ridge Country Club will host the auction, which will be part of the Mountain Palette Gala. The earrings were specially designed for the gala by Ms Katrin and are part of the award-winning Precious Briolette Collection.

The collection also includes necklaces in 18 to 22-carat gold and platinum.

Ms Katrin reported record sales for her jewellery, sold at the Carlton Gallery in North Carolina, last month.

Her collections will also be displayed at a Trunk Show at the gallery in August, in addition to a show at this year's annual Mountain Classic Ladies' Luncheon at the Linville Ridge Country Club.

Mia Katrin's work has been worn by Hollywood celebrities and her website urges women to consider jewellery as part of their fashion wardrobe.
