A designer of sentimental gifts and jewellery has launched new gold items for Father's Day, to be accompanied by the planting of a live tree.

Sons and daughters looking to honour the role of the father in the family can purchase a Loving Heart pin or 10ct gold Pocket Heart as a symbol of their love.

Jean Schnaak, the designer at Loving Heart, said: "Father's Day is the perfect occasion to acknowledge a father's irreplaceable role in the family and in the life of his children.

"Instead of a card that gets tossed away, give him a gift that symbolises the love of his family everyday!"

She added that it has been his passion to create sentimental gifts for men to let them know how they are loved and respected by their families.

The Loving Heart Collection by Jean Schnaak began when she fashioned a heart pin for her husband Neil, an airline pilot, for Valentine's Day in 1994.
