Gold features in "eco-conscious" jewellery lineTuesday, 1st April 2008 (935 views) Gold pieces form part of a new, high-end yet eco-friendly jewellery collection from designer Elizabeth Moore. The collection, Froote Jewellery, includes three lines that incorporate gold, precious and semi-precious stones in a range of earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Ms Moore, whose company also designs film sets, interiors and furniture, said she had created three distinct lines - named Island, Calypso and Tudor - as a way of combining her passions for art and spirituality. The Island line is inspired by the atolls of the South Pacific and incorporates gold with chalcedony, vasonite, freshwater pearls and green garnet to reflect their "delicate, luxurious and magical atmosphere". Pieces in the Calypso line, meanwhile, reflect femininity while the Tudor collection is inspired by "glamour and regal traditions". Froote Jewellery pieces are priced from $100 (£50) to $6,000. However, the high-end pieces are also eco-friendly, from their recycled or re-set stones to environmentally friendly packaging. Previous clients of Ms Moore include the model Cindy Crawford, plus musicians such as Prince, Sheryl Crow and Lenny Kravitz. She has also worked with sportswear firm Nike and soft drinks giant Coca-Cola.
