Bollywood action hero launches India's 'largest jewellery store'Monday, 10th March 2008 (3437 views) Indian actor Prashanth is to open the "largest jewellery shopping destination" in the country in the city of Chennai, according to reports.Thaindian News says the Tamil actor, whose first hit came in 1993 in the film Thief, Thief, will open the 170,000 sq ft store, the Prashanth Real Gold Tower, in partnership with his father, the actor, director and producer Thiagarajan. Located in the busy T Nagar shopping district, the tower will cater for retail and wholesale jewellery sales over ten floors. According to Thiagarajan, the largest outlet within the store will be owned by Joy Alukkas. Prashanth said he chose his home town of Chennai for the store because it has been "creating new waves" of retail formats for many different products, including clothing lines. "With the launch of Prashanth Real Gold Tower, we will see a new change in the shopping patterns for jewellery too," he commented. Chennai is India's fourth-largest city, with an estimated population of 7.5 million people.
