Gold slot machine watch launched in Las VegasFriday, 1st February 2008 (2500 views) A new wristwatch featuring a functioning slot machine with gold reels has been launched by Swiss luxury watchmaker Girard-Perregaux in the home of gambling, Las Vegas. The watch, a Vintage 1945 Jackpot Tourbillon, took three years to develop and contains 501 difference pieces, each of which is created and assembled by hand. It also has an arm on the right hand side of its casing, which when pulled activates the working slot machine housed within. Wynn & Co Jewellery in the Wynn Resort esplanade hosted the launch event. The store's watch and jewellery buyer, Douglas C Bradstreet, had bought a Jackpot Tourbillon himself before production had even started on the basis of conversations and early designs. He had also compiled a list of buyers who were eager to get their hands on the new timepiece. The first watch was sold on the launch day to an anonymous Las Vegas resident, who paid $625,000 (£316,000). Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest watchmakers in existence, having been established in 1791.
