Gold ring discovered in NorwayTuesday, 15th January 2008 (2566 views) A solid gold ring has been discovered in the Norwegian county of Vestfold, according to the Norway Post.Archaeologists estimate that the ring - which was found during test digging for a new highway in the region - could be around 2,000 years old. "We have had it analysed and experts are quite sure that it dates back to the time of Christ's birth," said Trude Aga Brun, an archaeologist. Gold rings are sometimes found by archaeologists during excavations or digging operations. Last month, a conservation project at a colonial jail in Australia unearthed a gold ring with a belt buckle on it. The eight-month restoration process was undertaken to improve drainage at the site, which may help to preserve the historical sandstone buildings. Among the other finds was a toothbrush handle made by the same manufacturer that crafted toothbrushes for the Queen of England at the time. Both items are set to go on display at the prison when work on the site is complete.
