The Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) has been cited as the largest of its kind in north India and has become "one of the most important annual fixtures of the region", according to its organisers.

Open from December 22nd until December 25th, the event was attended by chief minister Vasundhra Raje, as well as Jaipur's minister of state for tourism, Rajmata Gayatri Devi.

In addition, Dharmesh Sodah of the World Gold Council took part in the event, which also included Princess Divya of Jaipur as a special guest of honour.

The JJS also featured a fashion show, which symbolised love, peace, friendship and prosperity. Showcasing jewelers throughout four specific segments, the show also made use of lights, sound and performing artists to display each item.

In 2008, the JJS is scheduled to take place between December 20 and 23 and will focus on tanzanite, as well as traditional gold jewellery in the region.
