Thursday, 13th December 2007 (4542 views) Dubai has recognised the high standard of trading practices in 22 of the city's jewellery shops.Salah Amiri, director of Dubai's central laboratory department, awarded the gold sellers with the "Bareeq" certificates as part of the Dubai International Jewellery Exhibition, reports AME Info. The accolade, also know as the Good Jewellery Trading Practice Certification Scheme, distinguishes those stores which have implemented good practice standards. Criteria include excellent customer service, customer satisfaction and overall value for money. Other areas which are examined when judging the award include compliance with existing local and federal regulations, as well as personnel competence and appropriate environment labels. "We hope this will help [the stores] promote their business activity resulting in overall economic enhancement of the nation," said Mr Amiri. The certification scheme has been introduced in an effort to promote Dubai's reputation as a renowned place for purchasing high-quality gold jewellery. Dubai has over 600 jewellery shops and contains the densest concentration of gold sellers in the world.
