Tuesday, 11th December 2007 (5014 views) A jeweller in Georgetown, Guyana has received permission to use the Guyana National Bureau of Standards mark on the gold items it produces, according to Stabroek News.By accepting the permit, Niko's Jewellery has now become the fourth jeweller in the country to be certified under the national programme. Guyana has two national standards for jewellery, which include guidelines for manufacturing, alloying and testing gold items. As a member of the national standards scheme, jewellery items produced by Niko's will undergo a series of tests throughout the year to ensure its continued compliance with the guidelines. The jewellery store is now listed alongside Kings Jewellery World, De Abreu's Creations and Steve's Jewellery as retailers of quality gold jewellery in Guyana. Established in March 1984, the Guyana National Board of Standards regulates a number of industries in the country, including business, agriculture, chemistry, biology and electronics, among others. It is affiliated with the International Organisation for Standardisation and the Pan American Standards Commission.
