Jeweller and refiner establish 'breakthrough' partnershipThursday, 6th December 2007 (2793 views) An India-based gold jeweller has entered into a partnership with a bullion refiner in Australia, according to a report from Jewelbiz India. The arrangement, thought to be the first cooperation of its kind, will see gold bars produced at the Perth Mint imported in bulk to the Alappat Group. Based in the Indian state of Kerala, the jeweller has a number of outlets across the state that aim to produce gold jewellery items of high purity at competitive prices, according to Babu Alappat, managing director and chairman of the firm. The jeweller added that the planned import of one tonne of 999.9 per cent purity next year may help with demand created by its new showroom in the major city of Kochi, which is set to open this month. Covering an area of around 6,000 square feet, the new outlet will feature a number of specialty selections, including bridal wear and a range of jewellery for children.
