Monday, 19th November 2007 (4625 views) Contestants of a beauty pageant held in Ghana earlier this month have been presented with their prizes, including gold signet jewellery, according to Ghanabase.com.Each of the competitors in the Miss Malaika pageant have received a prize package, including wax prints from ABC Wax and gold items presented by Asanska Jewellery during an awards ceremony at the Alisa Hotel in Accra last week. The pageant winner, 20-year-old Laurie Naa Lamle Lawson, was judged to be intelligent, dynamic and hardworking, with a positive influence on the world around her. A medical student at the University of Ghana, Ms Lawson will now compete at the Miss Mailaika international beauty pageant event, which is organised to bring out the best in Africa's young women. In addition to the gold jewellery prize, Ms Lawson also won a cash sum, a Kia Cerato car and a set of living room furniture. The pageant took place earlier this month at Accra's National Theatre.
