Monday, 12th November 2007 (4055 views) A collection of gold jewellery - family heirlooms which have been missing for 15 years - has been found in the pocket of a US Air Force uniform from the Korean War, according to the Rocky Mountain News.Stacy and Michael Brown of Greely, Colorado, found the items of gold jewellery in the uniform following its delivery from a dry cleaner. The outfit, which belonged to Mr Brown's late uncle, John Kludjian, was found to contain a 14-carat gold necklace, a tennis bracelet, a gold brooch studded with rubies and a diamond ring, the newspaper reported. According to Mary Kludjian, Mr Brown's aunt, the family heirlooms had been misplaced when they were hidden for safekeeping and then her husband could not remember where he had left them. Of particular importance is the 18-inch-long gold necklace, pieces of which were bartered for food and shelter by Ms Kludjian's relatives as they fled the Armenian genocide in 1915. According to the Armenian National Institute, an estimated one and a half million people died during the Armenian genocide between 1915 and 1923.
