Gold jewellery and watches to be auctioned by Christie'sMonday, 29th October 2007 (2692 views) A selection of gold jewellery and watches will feature prominently on the Christie's auction block as the famed auction house prepares for a two-day international sale at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel in the United Arab Emirates.Some 170 lots of watches and jewellery are to be sold at the event, according to AME Info, including an 18-carat white gold Aura watch by Piaget and an 18-carat white gold wristwatch, set with diamonds and sapphires and designed by Audemars Piguet, the business news source reported. A pre-sale estimate indicates that the value of the contemporary jewellery items and watches up for sale is between $15 million and $20 million (£7.2 million and £9.7 million). Christie's currently has 14 salerooms in cities around the globe, including London, Dubai, New York, Hong Kong, Paris and Geneva. According to the auction house, it holds over 600 sales each year in categories such as jewellery, collectibles, wine, automobiles, photographs and fine arts.
