Thursday, 11th October 2007 (2776 views)

India's leading gold jewellers and suppliers have been honoured at the 34th annual Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council's annual awards evening held in Delhi, Jewelbiz India reported.

Siroya Jewellers received top honours with the award for highest importer of gold jewellery, while Mumbai's Bank of Nova Scotia won the prize for agency supplying gold to exporters against replenishment.

Say India Jewellers and Kama Jewellery were both presented with the studded gold jewellery award, while the honour for plain gold jewellery supplier was shared between Bangalore-based Rajesh Exports and Delhi-based Suman Jewellery.

Established in 1966, India's gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has 6,500 current members across the country.

It acts as an advisor and trade facilitator, organising international jewellery shows and working to promote the Indian jewellery sector on an international level.

The council also offers training programs in several major Indian centres, ensuring that the country's industry works to attain high levels of technical jewellery manufacturing excellence.
